Woman conceived through rape thanks prayer volunteers for standing vigil

I was on the phone with one of our prayer volunteers and she was telling me this story:

“Two of the prayer volunteers were out at Planned Parenthood standing vigil when an older African-American woman comes up to them crying. She told them that she was a product of rape. Her mother was pregnant with her before Roe v. Wade, and everyone was telling her mother to get an abortion. Her mother told them, ‘This baby is flesh of my flesh. This baby is flesh of my flesh. This is my baby.’ Her mother did not have an abortion. The woman continued to thank the prayer volunteers for being present and praying. She said she was praying as well, and that she just wanted everyone to understand that the unborn child is not just a blob of tissue… it is a baby.”

This is such an encouraging story of a mother who chose life. God bless that mother and this child, now adult, who told us her story. Thank God for using us to touch her, and may all those who argue that abortion is ok in cases of rape for whatever reason realize that the baby is truly a baby. It is a human being, and it is, like that good mother said, “flesh of her flesh.”
